What’s Different About the EST Range?
This range of cameras is extremely easy to set up, meaning the person in charge of the camera doesn’t need to undergo much training to know what they are looking for or how to set the camera up.
The updated EST models of thermal cameras have an increased throughput of 25 percent compared to the previous versions of the infrared cameras. This new range also has the added ability to generate baseline temperatures that can then be compared to the skin temperature of other individuals.
The cameras can then be set up to display or sound an alarm when elevated skin temperature is detected. If this happens, the individual in question should then be referred to a testing centre for an accurate diagnosis.
What Cameras are Part of this New Range?
FLIR EXX-EST SERIES –
This range of the EST series includes the E54-EST and E86-EST. Both light and easy to use with touchscreen displays making them simple to navigate.
FLIR T5XX-EST SERIES –
In either a handheld or mounted setup, this range of cameras is perfect for long term monitoring setups, with visual guides to help you measure temperatures accurately.
FLIR AXXX-EST SERIES –
Both the A400-EST and A700-EST are designed for fixed, round the clock monitoring and can be used as a single device or as a group setup.
What software do I need?
Flir has released ‘FLIR Screen-EST’ software, specifically for the EST range of thermal cameras.
When the software is connected to the infrared cameras, the software automatically detects individuals who enter the camera's frame.
Within seconds of this happening the software finds a hotspot and measures the skin temperature of the individuals.

How would I use this in my Workplace?
Anything that is put in place at your company, needs to be specific to your working environment. However, that doesn’t mean protecting your business needs to be complicated.
Majority of workplaces have managed to implement screening by setting up a single camera on a tripod at the entrance of their premises. As people enter the building and come into the cameras field of view, they simply stop for a few seconds, allowing the camera to measure their skin temperature.
This also means that these measures comply with social distancing recommendations with the ability to test multiple people at any one time for an elevated temperature using no contact with the individuals. Keeping you and them safe.
